So everybody tried to tell us that Kansas was going to be totally boring, but none of them knew what they were talking about. We made three stops along Route 70 ("America's Main Street"). The first one was in Abilene (population ~6700, although it's supposedly "exploding"), where we signed the guestbook and went to the fashion museum. The woman running the museum was one of the most interesting people either of us had ever encountered, and we couldn't figure out what the HELL she was doing in Abilene, Kansas.



Later we stopped for a picnic dinner in a pretty field along the road (there were many to choose from).



And then we entered an alternate universe, where we walked amongst throngs of prairie dogs, witnessed a new-born (like, 30 minutes old) longhorn calf, and saw...well, just look.

I thought Route 66 was "America's main street"! Kansas is lying! I hope you guys keep having fun, your blog is great :)
